Renowned man of God, Pastor Steven Furtick has encouraged believers to recognize divine intervention in their lives, emphasizing that true promotion often comes in unexpected ways.
Addressing the congregation, he questioned, “how would you know that it was God if it just went how it was supposed to?”, stressing that if recognition and support always came as expected, people might wrongly credit their success to human approval rather than God’s favor.
Using King Hezekiah’s story as an example, he pointed out how the prophet Isaiah initially ignored Hezekiah’s words about his faithfulness but responded when Hezekiah cried out in desperation. “Whoa, that’s faith. Whoa, that’s trust. Whoa, that’s somebody who has come to the end of himself,” he remarked, highlighting the power of total dependence on God.
He explained that God’s delays serve a purpose. “If it happened when you wanted it to, you would have thought it was you,” he stated, adding that sometimes, “God has to make the shadows stretch out” to remind people that their breakthroughs are not by their own strength.
