God Speaks to You: Pastor Stephanie Ike-Okafor’s Sermon at ONE Church

At a recent service at ONE, A Potter’s House Church, Pastor Stephanie Ike-Okafor delivered a compelling sermon titled, “God Speaks to You,” focusing on the ways in which God communicates with His people and how believers can stay attuned to His guidance.

In her sermon, Pastor Stephanie used the biblical account of Abraham and Lot to illustrate the importance of trusting in God’s guidance, even when it contradicts what appears favorable to the natural eye. She highlighted the need for believers to evaluate their paths through the lens of God’s Word, warning that choosing based on superficial appeal can lead to destruction.

“The Spirit cannot lead your life if your life cannot know restraint; if you don’t know how to restrain yourself from the appetites of the flesh. And it’s not something you do in your strength,” she emphasized, underlying the necessity of relying on the Holy Spirit to overcome fleshly desires and remain on the path God has set.

Pastor Stephanie also addressed the issue of pride, warning against the temptation to conform to worldly values instead of reflecting the image of God. She urged the congregation to seek comfort in God’s wisdom rather than their own intelligence, noting that pride can lead individuals away from their divine purpose.

“When you come in agreement, your agreement provides power,” she stated, encouraging listeners to align themselves fully with God’s will. Pastor Stephanie explained that this alignment brings strength and clarity, contrasting it with the weakness that comes from negotiating the terms of one’s faith.

A significant portion of the sermon was dedicated to developing spiritual sensitivity, which Pastor Stephanie described as essential for discerning God’s voice. She spoke about the various ways God communicates – through feelings, knowledge, hearing, and seeing – and stressed the importance of being attuned to these forms of divine communication.

“The reason why many find themselves weak is because they are negotiating the terms,” she observed, pointing out that a lack of commitment to God’s direction often leads to spiritual weakness. Pastor Stephanie also highlighted the importance of dreams as a medium through which God reveals His plans, urging the congregation to take their dreams seriously.

Reflecting on Acts 2:17, Pastor Stephanie called on believers to live with vision, particularly in challenging times. She encouraged the congregation to embrace the vision God has for their lives and to live in a manner that is set apart for Him.

“Intimacy is not a formula for hearing from God; it is a life set apart,” Pastor Stephanie remarked, emphasizing that true intimacy with God comes from a life dedicated to His service. She concluded by reassuring the congregation that the Holy Spirit desires to partner with them and lead them into the fullness of God’s purpose.

“When you posture yourself to hear from the Lord, it anchors you in a way that you are not afraid,” she said, leaving the congregation with a message of hope and encouragement.

This sermon is undoubtedly empowering and insightful as Pastor Stephanie Ike Okafor explored key themes of divine guidance, spiritual sensitivity, and living a life aligned with God’s vision. You can visit the ONE YouTube channel to watch the full sermon.
