Pastor Baucham Urges Christians to Maintain Brokenness in the Face of Sin

American Pastor and Author, Voddie Baucham has encouraged believers to remain humble and aware of their need for repentance. Reflecting on God’s grace, Baucham stated, “May I never get over the fact that God saved a wretched sinner like me,” emphasizing gratitude for each new day. “May I never get over the fact that he allowed me to see another day,” he added.

He pointed to God’s patience and endurance, urging Christians to embrace brokenness over their sins. “May I never get over being broken over my sin,” he emphasized, reminding his audience that no human effort can fully meet God’s standards, but brokenness allows believers to draw nearer to Him.

Warning against spiritual complacency, he urged listeners not to lose sight of their own sinfulness. “May I never, ever stop realizing the incredible distance between me and my Jesus,” he shared. According to him, recognizing this gap is key to appreciating “the distance he traveled to make me his child,” underscoring the importance of humility in fostering closeness to God.

He also emphasized that brokenness is the only appropriate response to sin. “Yes, brothers and sisters, brokenness is an appropriate response to sin,” he declared, stressing that a posture of brokenness is essential for a genuine relationship with Christ. He encouraged believers to confront their sinfulness regularly, viewing it as integral to their faith journey.

In closing, he left his audience with a call to remain vigilant in their faith, resisting complacency and staying mindful of their spiritual weaknesses. “It’s the only appropriate response to sin,” he concluded, underscoring his conviction that brokenness is a path to deeper faith and closer fellowship with God.
