The family of gospel singer Jacob Yaw Mawulo Adjola, commonly known as Jake, is appealing for public restraint in sharing information about his passing, following reports of suspected suicide. Jake, who was a key figure in the Higher Praise Inc. music group, passed away on Sunday, only a day after leading a performance with his group.
Speculation about the circumstances of his death has spread on social media platforms, especially Facebook, where users are discussing an alleged “sign off” note linked to him. Although Higher Praise Inc. confirmed Jake’s passing with a post captioned “Jake sings with the angels now,” they did not mention the cause of death, leading to more rumors about a possible suicide.
In a statement issued by his family and signed by his sister, Susan Adjola, they confirmed that the police are investigating the circumstances of Jake’s death and asked the public to avoid sharing unverified information. “The police is currently investigating the matter, both the alleged letter and the accident, and we plead with you all to allow the investigations to take their due course,” the statement said.
The family also noted that the police are examining the purported suicide note, which suggests Jake had been struggling emotionally since 2022. They have requested privacy and respect as investigations continue, asking for understanding from the public during this difficult period.
