Archbishop Duncan-Williams Emphasizes Forgiveness

Renowned Ghanaian preacher, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has urged believers to prioritize gratitude and forgiveness rather than dwelling on past betrayals. He used the biblical story of King David’s kindness to the house of Saul to illustrate this message.

Preaching from 2 Samuel 9:1, the Archbishop recounted how David, despite enduring assassination attempts by King Saul, still sought to show kindness to someone from Saul’s lineage out of loyalty to Jonathan.

“David had become king, successful and doing well. Saul had done so much evil to him, yet he asked, ‘Is there nobody in the house of Saul for the sake of Jonathan that I might show kindness to?’” he stated.

He lamented that many people struggle to move past the wrongs done to them, often forgetting the kindness they have received.

“So many of us never forget the evil people have done to us. We hold on to the wrong done to us that we never focus on the good,” he observed.

Highlighting David’s gratitude, Archbishop Duncan-Williams encouraged believers to acknowledge the positive influences in their lives.

“David remembered and said, ‘But for Jonathan, I will not be here. So let me do something for the memory of my friend.’ That is a heart of gratitude,” he added.
