Renowned pastor and author, Toure Roberts, has underscored the significance of an abundance mentality in recognizing and seizing opportunities, contrasting it with a lack mentality, which often results in missed chances.
Explaining the mindset of lack, Pastor Roberts stated, “The lack mentality, when presented with an opportunity, looks at everything it does not have. And consequently either disqualifies itself from that opportunity or spends so much time deliberating that the opportunity comes. And it goes.”
On the other hand, he described the abundance mentality as a perspective that sees possibilities rather than limitations. “The abundance mentality, when the opportunity presents itself, says, ‘Oh, this is God.’” He acknowledged that stepping into new opportunities can be daunting but emphasized the inner conviction that drives action. “Now, it could be a little scary, but there’s something about what is in you that says, ‘I think this might be for me,’ and I have to exercise the discipline of having a consciousness of abundance and what I do have.”
Pastor Roberts encouraged people to focus on what they possess, rather than what they lack, and to maximize their resources. “If it relates to finances, I may not have all the money, but I’ve got something to trade with. If I leverage my wisdom, if I leverage my relationships, if I leverage my little, if I’m faithful over this little, He will make it into the much that I need.”
Wrapping up his message, he challenged his listeners to embrace faith and take action, asking, “Are you tracking with me today? If you’re tracking with me, say, ‘I’m tracking with you.’”
