The Potter’s House of Dallas says Bishop TD Jakes suffered a “health incident” on Sunday. A video of the incident from the Potter’s House stream posted on social media shows Jakes freezing while on stage and lowering his microphone while starting to shake.
Bishop T.D. Jakes suffered an apparent medical emergency at the end of Sunday’s service at The Potter’s House of Dallas, during a prayer.
Jakes shared an hour-long sermon on Sunday.
As he was wrapping up his message, Jakes had what The Potter’s House called a “health incident.”
A video of the incident from the Potter’s House stream posted on social media shows Jakes freezing while on stage and lowering his microphone while starting to shake.
Several people quickly surrounded Jakes.
“Back up, back up, give him some space,” someone said.
The stream ended shortly after.
Since then, The Potter’s House of Dallas released a statement saying, “Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”
The church didn’t share any specifics about what may have led up to the health incident.
Jakes, 67, founded The Potter’s House Church in Dallas in 1996.
The Potter’s House website says the non-denominational church now has more than 30,000 members.
Every week, thousands tune in to the church’s Sunday service.
According to the church’s website, Jakes has advised three presidents and was a featured speaker at the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009.
