Dr. Sonnie Badu Cautions Against Social Media Pressure

Gospel musician and preacher, Dr. Sonnie Badu has urged his followers to resist the pressure of social media and focus on living within their financial capacity.

His remarks align with broader concerns about the impact of social media pressure, particularly on young people who often compare themselves to curated online images of success and affluence.

In a post made on Instagram, the Ghanaian pastor addressed the increasing trend of people feeling compelled to match the extravagant lifestyles they see online.

“Learn to cut the coat according to your size. Learn to live within your means,” he advised. “I know social media has so much pressure that you feel you’ve got to live up to certain expectations. But hear me.”

Badu pointed out that many of the luxurious lifestyles showcased online may not reflect reality, as some individuals go to great lengths—sometimes borrowing or spending beyond their limits—to create a false impression of wealth.

“The people you’re watching, perhaps you don’t know where they are getting this stuff from. Some of them are borrowing. Others are literally using their last dime to impress people,” he noted.

He encouraged people to embrace contentment and prioritize their well-being over social media validation.

“Go to bed, sleep, rest. Cut the coat according to your size and be content with whatever you have. Thank me later,” he added.
