Renowned preacher, Apostle Arome Osayi, has cautioned Christians against the tendency to shift their prayer responsibilities onto pastors, emphasizing that spiritual leaders also need divine support.
“Let me tell you the truth, it is unrealistic, it is unreasonable for you to think that you have done something by dumping your prayer points on another person,” he stated.
During a sermon, the founder of the Remnant Christian Network (RCN) described this habit as impractical, stressing that while it may seem logical from a religious perspective, it is an outdated approach.
“It makes religious sense, but it’s old school. The guy you want to drop those prayers on is insufficient, and he himself needs help,” he added.
Apostle Osayi highlighted the immense pressures pastors face, particularly during conferences, where they minister to large crowds with little time to rest or eat.
“When we do conferences, people come from all over the world, and indeed, we are set. We charge ourselves. Most times, we can’t even eat because you are attending to people, and then before you know it, it’s time for you to run home and take your bath,” he shared.
Recalling a recent experience, he mentioned being informed that over 200 people were waiting outside his office after an exhausting conference.
“This is a preacher that just finished a conference. He’s half dead,” he said, emphasizing that it is impossible to meet every individual’s needs.
Encouraging believers to build their personal prayer lives, Apostle Osayi reminded them that only Christ has the ultimate capacity to carry everyone’s burdens.
“The best I can do for you is to show you. The man that is asleep, he’s the only one that has the capacity to carry all of us,” he explained, pointing to Jesus Christ as the true source of strength.
Although he acknowledged his spiritual gifts and willingness to bless others, he stressed that his main focus is training believers to stand in prayer themselves.
“I have some gifts of the Spirit, and if I prayed enough for you to be functional, I can bless some of you, indeed I’m willing. But the reason why I will not manifest that gift is because I want to train you, and it’s a decision,” he stated.
Apostle Osayi urged Christians to take responsibility for their spiritual growth rather than depending entirely on preachers, affirming that only Christ can bear the weight of everyone’s burdens.
