Stephanie Ike, a prominent speaker and spiritual leader, has expressed deep concerns about the current state of Christianity, urging believers to reflect on their true reasons for following Christ. Speaking passionately at a recent event, Ike highlighted the gap between acknowledging Jesus as Lord and genuinely living under His lordship.
“Now, there are many people who acknowledge that Jesus is Lord, but according to how they live, they have not made Him Lord in their lives,” she stated. She pointed out that many approach Jesus not for who He is but because of what they hope to gain. “The reason you’re faithful is not to know Him, but to receive from Him,” she added.
She also addressed a troubling trend of young Nigerians and African Americans turning away from Christianity to embrace traditional practices such as Ifa worship. “It shocks me that even in America, you have Black Americans saying they’re leaving Christianity to worship Ifa. I said, I grew up in Nigeria, and y’all are talking about Ifa in America?” she questioned. “And then you see young Nigerians saying they need to go back and worship the gods of their forefathers, but they started off in church. What changed?”
Explaining the cause, she asserted, “What changed was you were never in it for the person. Christianity is not about a religion; it’s about the person of Jesus Christ. And if you are not in it for Him, then when you don’t get what you want, now you’re looking for another solution elsewhere.”
Her message also addressed those feeling disillusioned with their faith, sharing a prophetic insight she had received. “As I was praying concerning this meeting, the Lord showed me there are people even present here, and you said, ‘You know what? This is going to be the last stop for me. If God does not do this thing for me, I’m done with this whole church thing.’” she urged such individuals to rethink their stance, cautioning, “This is what the Bible refers to as unbelieving.”
Stephanie Ike’s message concluded with a powerful reminder of the eternal perspective Christians should maintain. “When you trust in God, there is something you touch in Him where you realize that, yes, the pleasures of life are nice. Everybody likes good things. But even if I don’t touch it in this realm, what I have seen in God is beyond the pleasures of this world,” she affirmed. “While I’m on this earth, yet to live is for Christ, and to die is gain. Satan, you cannot threaten death to a dead man.”
