Apostle Selman Calls for Reflection on God’s Goodness

During a recent service, Apostle Joshua Selman has encouraged his congregation to reflect on God’s faithfulness throughout the year.

“Count your blessings, possibly name them one by one,” he quoted a well-known hymn. “It will surprise you what God has done.” He urged the congregation to truly recognize and appreciate the many blessings they have received.

“When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all He has done for me, my very soul shall shout Hallelujah. Praise God,” he declared, leading the congregation in praise.

He pointed out how important it is to reflect on God’s goodness. “How the school fees came, the goodness of God. How you moved from a tenant to a landlord, the goodness of God. How joblessness of 10 years ended—God’s goodness. How barrenness of years and decades was broken,” he said.

He also reminded the congregation that gratitude requires intentional thought: “You really cannot be thankful until you apply intelligence to it. Count your blessings,” he emphasized.

The apostle praised God’s ability to transform lives, saying, “That God who is able to take a man from a lowly state and place him to sit. Hallelujah for that God.” He also reflected on the lives of those who had faced challenges, adding, “Some of you stepped into this city this year, moving around as if you were lost, but God Himself began to settle you. Look where you are right now, the mercy and goodness of God.”

Acknowledging the difficulties many had faced during the year, he noted, “January 1 started with trouble. You were already afraid, not even wanting February to come. But you are still standing by December, giving glory to God.”
