Bishop T.D. Jakes, renowned preacher and author, has opened up about a deeply painful chapter in his life, sharing how faith sustained him through moments of despair.
“I went through a period in my life that I was just being crushed,” Jakes admitted. “My heart was broken. I was worried. It was one of the most distraught moments in my life, and I was literally crying.”
He described pouring his heart out to God during that challenging time. “I said, ‘Lord, I hate this. I absolutely hate this. But I love you, and I know you will not allow me to go through this if it were not for my good.’”

Through the tears and uncertainty, Jakes clung to his belief in God’s purpose. “Though tears are running down my face and I cannot see my way out, if you suffered me to be bruised, it is only to make me better,” he reflected.
Despite his struggles, Jakes emphasized his steadfast faith. “I trust you when I can’t trace you,” he said, referencing the biblical assurance that God’s work in one’s life will come to fruition. “He that hath begun a good work in me will bring it to completion.”
His testimony, a profound reminder of hope and trust, continues to inspire others facing their own trials. “You cannot convince me otherwise,” he concluded, underscoring his unshakable faith in God’s plan.
