Commitment Sustains Marriages – Rev. Elvis Agyemang

Renowned pastor Rev. Elvis Agyemang has shared insights on the foundations of a successful marriage, emphasizing that commitment and shared effort are essential.

In a recent Instagram post, he explained that marriages do not thrive on their own but require deliberate work from both partners.“No marriage works by itself. Couples work it out,” he stated, adding that the joy, peace, and longevity of a union depend on the contributions of the couple. “Unbuilt couples cannot build a marriage. It is always the couple’s content that fills the marriage container.”

Rev. Agyemang stressed that the success of a marriage isn’t based solely on the individuals’ goodness but on their willingness to dedicate themselves to each other. “Your marriage will not work because you and your partner are just two good people. It will work because you are willing to commit that goodness in you to each other.”

Addressing the inevitability of conflict, he noted that disagreements are a natural part of any relationship. “The sign that two perfect and reasonable humans have met is conflicts,” he wrote. “But the sign that these two are matured in their reasoning ability is their swiftness in resolving their conflicts and differences.”

He also advised against bringing a single person’s mindset into marriage, urging couples to embrace shared decision-making and accountability. “The day you marry is the day you have to delete the singles’ mindset. You can’t wake up when you want… You have another person to consider whenever you have to make a decision.”

Finally, Rev. Agyemang pointed out that knowledge, not luck, is the key to a thriving marriage. “Knowledge is the master key to a great marriage,” he stated, encouraging couples to learn and apply principles that sustain their union.
