Paul Adefarasin Talks About Embracing Humility and Trusting God

Pastor Paul Adefarasin recently shared a profound message on the nature of greatness, emphasizing that it is not easily attained and requires humility and reliance on God. He pointed out that greatness is not something given to those who feel entitled, but rather to those who understand their dependence on a higher power. “God doesn’t just trust anybody with greatness,” he explained, adding, “If you feel entitled to greatness, greatness is most likely to miss you.”

He stressed that those who haven’t experienced pain or difficulty may struggle to truly understand greatness. “If you don’t have a broken limb somewhere or haven’t been through pain before, God is not likely to use you to do much here on earth,” he said. He further emphasized that God is particularly drawn to those who have been overlooked or rejected, stating, “He has an attraction for the stone that the builders rejected. He has an attraction for outcasts, he has an attraction for outliers.”

According to him, those who believe they are superior or entitled may never fully grasp what true greatness entails. “If he takes the high and mighty… people will think they did it themselves,” he warned, urging the audience to approach success with humility and recognize that it comes from God.

The pastor also reflected on the struggles and challenges that come with pursuing greatness, using the biblical stories of David and Jacob as examples. “God will wrestle you to the ground, David. He will wrestle you, Jacob, until he has to break your hip bone.” he explained that these struggles are necessary for individuals to learn to rely on God completely. “You will have to depend on Him to be your legs, your foundation, the reason why you are still standing.”

In his concluding remarks, he called on listeners not to use their own success to harm those still on their journey. “Please don’t break down the university just because you graduated from it. Allow others who are going through brokenness as their third degree their master’s degree.”

Finally, he emphasized the importance of failure in the pursuit of success, reminding the audience, “There’s no other route to success other than by failure,” and encouraging them to support others in their struggles.
