Sonnie Badu Leads Peace Walk Ahead of 2024 Elections

UK-based Ghanaian gospel star Sonnie Badu has amplified his call for peace ahead of Ghana’s December 7, 2024, general elections, leading a monumental peace walk in Accra on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

The event, branded The Peace Walk with Sonnie Badu, commenced at Danquah Circle and concluded at the iconic Black Star Square. Hundreds of participants, clad in custom T-shirts, painted a vibrant picture as they marched to promote unity during this pivotal time.

The walk attracted prominent personalities, including Rev. Lawrence Tetteh, Founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach; gospel sensation Cwesi Oteng; celebrated producer Kaywa; and entertainment journalist Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo.

Speakers at the event echoed the theme of peace, urging Ghanaians to put the nation’s interest first during the elections.

Sonnie Badu reinforced this message during a previous radio interview, where he passionately advised citizens to vote wisely. “Cast a vote for Ghana. Ghana must win,” he said. He encouraged voters to evaluate their circumstances critically, adding, “If you’re happy, vote. If not, vote. Don’t let someone deceive you with gari, rice, or yam to throw away your precious vote.”

He also highlighted the fleeting nature of political promises, cautioning, “The only time you have power is now [during the election period], and it’s shown by politicians visiting and mingling with you as if they can relate to your circumstances. When they get power, they will never come back.”

The peace walk is a precursor to Sonnie Badu’s highly anticipated Rhythms of Africa gospel concert, scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, at Independence Square.

This year’s concert, themed The Peace Edition, aims to unite Ghanaians through music and prayer in preparation for the elections. Since its debut in 2023, Rhythms of Africa has become renowned for its energetic performances and celebration of African spirituality.

With free admission, the 2024 edition emphasizes inclusivity, inviting people from all backgrounds to join in this symbolic event for peace.

As Ghana prepares for a critical democratic exercise, Sonnie Badu’s call for unity stands as a powerful reminder of the role faith, music, and responsible citizenship play in shaping a peaceful future.
