Pastor Otabil Urges African Christians to Abandon Fear

Ghanaian theologian Pastor Mensah Otabil has urged African Christians to cast off the fear of spiritual forces, advocating for a shift in identity and faith centered on Christ.

Speaking passionately, Pastor Otabil highlighted the strength that faith brings over fear.“You cannot see yourself in Christ as an African and still be afraid of elementary spirits,” he stated. “You cannot be a Christian, an African, and still be afraid of witches and wizards. It means you haven’t moved, because Christ is not afraid of witches and wizards.”

He explained that for believers to experience genuine transformation, they must adopt the courage that comes from their faith. “If we find ourselves in Him, there has to be a transformation where we move from fear into boldness in Christ Jesus,” he added.

Pastor Otabil’s remarks have prompted discussions within Christian circles on redefining African spirituality through a Christian lens, encouraging many to reconsider the influence of faith in overcoming traditional fears.
