Carol Wimber-Wong

Carol Wimber-Wong, a central figure in the founding of the Vineyard movement and wife of the late John Wimber, has passed away at the age of 87. She died peacefully on January 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, wisdom, and devotion to the Holy Spirit.

Carol, alongside her husband John, played a pivotal role in establishing the Vineyard movement, a network of churches that has significantly shaped charismatic Christianity around the globe. While John often took center stage in the public eye, Carol worked quietly behind the scenes, profoundly influencing the movement’s development and direction.

Paying tribute to Carol’s life, John and Debby Wright, National Directors of Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland, expressed their sorrow and gratitude. “Carol had a deep love for Jesus and was passionate about the person and work of the Holy Spirit, unswerving in her commitment to following His lead,” they said.

The Wrights also acknowledged her humility and influence, noting that although she avoided the spotlight, her wisdom and insights left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. “She did not enjoy visibility but had a huge influence in shaping the Vineyard movement with her late husband,” they added.

Carol’s contributions extended far beyond the movement itself. Reflecting on her life’s work, the Wrights remarked, “Her contribution to the Body of Christ has been incalculable. History will remember her warmly.”

As tributes pour in from across the globe, the Vineyard family and Carol’s loved ones mourn her passing while celebrating a life lived in service to God. Her legacy continues to inspire and enrich the Christian community worldwide.
