The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, in connection with a fatal accident caused by their 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, on October 12, 2024. The tragic incident, which occurred at East Legon, claimed the lives of two young girls and left several others injured.
The suspect, driving a Jaguar SUV, collided with an Acura vehicle, causing both cars to catch fire. According to the police, the victims in the Acura included five occupants, with two 12-year-olds, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwonoh, losing their lives. Three others were rescued, with two treated for minor injuries and one remaining in hospital for further medical attention.
In the press release, the police assured the public that they are committed to uncovering the details of the tragedy. “The Police would like to assure the public of a thorough investigation into the accident to bring closure to the affected family,” stated Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Director of Public Affairs.
The parents of the suspect are currently in custody, assisting the police in their investigation. Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and a team visited the bereaved family and the injured at the hospital, offering their prayers and support during this difficult time.
