Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye, the head and founder of the Maker’s House Chapel Int, has underscored the need for the church pulpit to prioritize a divine agenda over personal or political ambitions.

Speaking on StarrChat with Bola Ray on October 3, 2024, Dr. Nyamekye, who oversees a congregation exceeding 5,000, highlighted that the core mission of the pulpit is to deliver the gospel. “The business of the church is to do church,” he stated, and further emphasized that, “The pulpit is not used to promote a personal agenda; the pulpit is used to promote a divine agenda.”

Recognizing the church’s societal role, Dr. Nyamekye stressed the importance of addressing issues like corruption when necessary. “If the lesson you are dealing with is supposed to speak against corruption, you don’t shy away from it. You speak against corruption because that is what the scripture demands,” he noted, reinforcing that church leaders must confront these topics when scripture dictates.

However, Dr. Nyamekye also pointed out the limits of the pulpit’s role in societal matters. “The pulpit cannot be the straight jacket for everything in society. It has its place,” he remarked, encouraging actions beyond sermons.

Dr. Nyamekye also called on youth leaders and public figures to take responsibility for inspiring change, urging, “Ghana should be owned by the youth.” He added that influential individuals must actively engage with the youth to help build a better future for the country.
