Rapper and music producer Kanye West, now known as Ye, has announced the revival of his Sunday Service gatherings, reigniting conversations about faith, music, and controversy.
Ye shared the news on Instagram, posting a screenshot of a conversation with Jason White, the choir director of Sunday Service. The faith-based events, which originally began in 2019, featured gospel performances and worship sessions led by a choir often dressed in his fashion designs. While some have praised the initiative for introducing non-believers to Christian worship, others remain skeptical, questioning its authenticity and viewing it as a celebrity-driven spectacle.
The announcement, however, coincides with renewed backlash against the artist. Shortly after revealing the return of Sunday Service, Ye posted an image of a pointed white hood resembling those associated with the Ku Klux Klan, captioned “outfit of the day.” The post has drawn widespread condemnation, adding to the controversies surrounding him, including previous allegations of antisemitism and admiration for Adolf Hitler.
In a separate development, a church building Ye had purchased in Los Angeles as part of his ministry efforts was destroyed in a fire last October. The property, reportedly acquired from Cornerstone Christian Church in the San Fernando Valley for $1.5 million, was reduced to ruins, though details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
With Sunday Service set to resume on March 16, the revival of Ye’s worship gatherings is once again sparking debate within Christian communities—raising questions about faith, redemption, and the complexities of celebrity influence in ministry.
