Pastor Mensah Otabil, Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has expressed strong disapproval of prayers that call for harm to others, emphasizing that such practices go against the teachings of Christ. Speaking during a recent sermon, he raised critical questions about the legitimacy of these prayers within the Christian faith.
“If I pray that another church member should die by fire, who should answer that?” he asked pointedly. “Is it Jesus? The same Jesus who died for them, shed His blood for them, redeemed them, gave them eternal life, and put His Spirit in them?”
Pastor Otabil further criticized believers who, through their actions, elevate themselves to an unbiblical position of authority. “You are actually the fourth person of the Trinity,” he remarked, highlighting the irony. “So much so that now [Jesus] has to honor your word because you are killing other believers and destroying other believers and cursing church members.”
He also took issue with the disconnect between the lifestyles of some self-proclaimed prophets and the core principles of Christianity. “You suppose that it is of God. You are prophesying supposedly, and telling all kinds of things, but your lifestyle is so far away from the Christian life,” he stated.
Pastor Otabil encouraged Christians to reflect deeply on their approach to prayer and prophecy, urging them to align their lives with the love, grace, and humility demonstrated by Christ. His message serves as a reminder for believers to prioritize genuine faith and godly living over harmful practices.
