Dr. Michael Brown, a respected Christian author, radio host, and founder of the FIRE School of Ministry, has addressed allegations of inappropriate conduct from the early 2000s, apologizing for the pain caused by his actions.
In a video posted on December 19, 2024, Dr. Brown admitted to forming an emotional, though non-physical, bond with a friend’s wife between late 2001 and early 2002. The friend, identified as “Ray,” brought the matter to light following the passing of his wife in 2021. Dr. Brown explained that he confessed the situation to the couple in 2002 and subsequently sought counseling to make necessary changes in his life.
He emphasized that the relationship did not amount to adultery but expressed regret for his failure to exercise better judgment. “I deeply regret the harm caused by my actions and the trust I failed to uphold during that time,” he said.
Separate allegations involve a former staff member of FIRE School, referred to as “Erin,” who worked under Dr. Brown’s leadership from the age of 18. Erin alleged that she left the ministry at 21 due to discomfort with his behavior, which reportedly included physical interactions such as slapping her buttocks and kissing her.
Dr. Brown acknowledged these actions, describing them as inappropriate and hurtful, and admitted he initially underestimated the impact of his behavior. While he had apologized to Erin in 2002, he expressed a deeper understanding of the harm caused and sought forgiveness from Erin, his staff, and the broader Christian community.
Drawing from the biblical story of Peter’s denial of Christ, Dr. Brown reflected on how his past failures have humbled him and strengthened his reliance on God. He affirmed his full cooperation with a third-party investigation launched by The Line of Fire ministry, a process initiated to ensure accountability and transparency.
