Warfare Prayers

My favourite lines in one of the popular songs we used to sing or march with while in High school was, “Life in this world is a great struggle for both the young and old, and even those who have great riches, have troubles on their own.” I loved these lines without understand the depth of their meaning. Back then, it was just a marching song, but now I do understand, very well, perhaps in depth.

The battles of life are what made the songwriter refer to life as a great struggle. However, in the battles of life, both seen and unseen, as believers we are called to stand firm in our faith, armed with the Word of God. The Bible is filled with powerful scriptures that remind us of God’s protection, strength, and victory over the forces of darkness.

Whether you’re facing personal struggles, spiritual attacks, or challenges that seem insurmountable, these 10 Bible verses will empower you to pray with boldness and confidence, knowing that the Lord is fighting for you.

1. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV): “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

This verse reminds us that our true battle is not against people, but against spiritual forces of evil. As you pray, remember that you are engaging in spiritual warfare, and God has equipped you with His power to overcome.

2. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV): “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

God has given us spiritual weapons that are mighty through Him. Use this verse to declare the power of God’s Word and Spirit in tearing down any strongholds that stand in your way.

3. Isaiah 54:17 (NIV): “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”

In times of attack, declare this promise over your life. God assures us that no weapon formed against us will succeed, and He will be our defense against any accusation.

4. Psalm 91:1-2 (NIV) : “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

Psalm 91 is a powerful chapter for protection. When you pray, remind yourself that as you dwell in God’s presence, you are safe and secure under His mighty protection.

5. James 4:7 (NIV): “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”*

Victory in spiritual warfare begins with submission to God. As you submit to Him and resist the enemy in prayer, the devil has no choice but to flee.

6. 1 John 4:4 (NIV): “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Take comfort in knowing that the power of God within you is far greater than any force of evil in the world. This verse is a declaration of the victory you have in Christ.

7. 2 Chronicles 20:15 (NIV): “He said: ‘Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”

When the battle seems overwhelming, remember that it belongs to the Lord. He fights on your behalf, and the victory is already won through Him.

8. Romans 8:37 (NIV): “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

In Christ, you are more than a conqueror. Let this truth empower your prayers, knowing that you already have the victory in Jesus.

9. Deuteronomy 3:22 (NIV): “Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.”

God is your defender. As you face battles, rest in the assurance that He is fighting for you, and there is no need to fear.

10. Exodus 14:14 (NIV): “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

In moments of uncertainty, stand still and trust in God’s deliverance. He will fight for you, and His peace will guard your heart.
