Christianity is our reality! This is our beautiful truth! Currently spiritual truths often get muddled by various ideologies, thus it’s crucial to return to the foundation of what it means to be a Christian. Christianity is not just a religion or a set of moral guidelines; it is a beautiful reality rooted in a unique relationship between humanity and God, made possible only through Jesus Christ.
At the heart of Christianity lies an intimate fellowship between man and God, which is established solely through Jesus Christ. This relationship is not something man can achieve on his own; it is a divine gift that comes to us because of who Jesus is and what He has accomplished. In John 14:6, Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This powerful statement reveals that Jesus is not merely a guide to God – He is the way to God. Without Him, a personal connection with the Creator is impossible.
Jesus is the embodiment of truth and life. When He enters our hearts, the very essence of God resides within us. This indwelling presence transforms our lives, not through our own efforts, but through the reality of Christ living in us. Knowing Jesus is knowing God; having a relationship with Jesus is having a relationship with God. This truth is at the core of the Christian faith.
The relationship we have with Jesus is unlike any other because it directly mirrors the relationship He has with the Father. Jesus makes it clear in John 14:7, “If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” Here, Jesus reveals that He and the Father are one. To know Jesus is to know God, and to see Jesus is to see God. This divine reality means that when we accept Jesus into our lives, we are accepting God Himself.
This truth underscores the fact that Christianity is not based on human efforts to reach God, but on God reaching out to humanity through Christ. Romans 5:8 reminds us that “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Christianity is the story of God’s love, mercy, and grace extended to us through Jesus. It is not about what we can do for God, but about what He has already done for us through His Son.
Understanding the reality of Christianity also involves understanding how one becomes a Christian. This process is not about fulfilling a list of requirements or earning God’s favor through good deeds. It is about entering into the relationship with God that Jesus makes possible. As Romans 10:9 explains, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Salvation is a gift, received by faith. It requires us to believe in our hearts that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior sent by God, and to confess this belief openly. 1 John 5:1 further affirms this by stating, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” To be “born of God” is to be brought into the family of God, to become a child of God through faith in Jesus.
Christianity is not a mere religious experience; it is the reality of God’s presence and power at work in our lives through Jesus Christ. It is a relationship with God that transforms us from the inside out, making us partakers of His divine nature. This reality is available to everyone who believes in Jesus and accepts Him as Lord and Savior.
