There’s a breeze of peace that comes when we let go and allow God to fight our battles. So often, we take on the weight of the world, striving to solve every problem on our own, believing that success or failure depends entirely on our efforts. But, in reality, there are many struggles in life that are simply beyond our control. We need to learn how to surrender to God, trusting that He is more than capable of handling what we cannot.
I remember a time in my life when I faced an overwhelming situation. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t see a way out. I was doing everything possible to fix things, from late-night worries to endless planning. The harder I pushed, the more defeated I felt. It was exhausting, and my faith was being tested.
Then one day, I chanced up on Exodus 14:14: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Of course I have heard of that verse before, I just didn’t grasp its depth back then. This verse is a powerful reminder that sometimes, our greatest strength lies in stillness and trust. When the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s advancing army, they were terrified, yet Moses reminded them that God would take care of them. And He did. God parted the sea, creating a way where there was none, proving that He is always in control, even in the most impossible situations. This verse comforted me in my desperation and empowered me. I prayed: “God, I don’t know what to do anymore. Please take control.”
That prayer changed everything, not because my situation immediately improved, but because I stopped trying to carry it all on my own. I gave it to God. It wasn’t an easy process, and I often found myself slipping back into worry and stress. But each time, I reminded myself that God was working on my behalf, even if I couldn’t see it. Slowly, I started to feel lighter, and in time, things began to shift in ways I never expected.
This experience taught me that sometimes the strongest thing we can do is surrender. It’s not about giving up but rather trusting that God has a plan, even when we can’t see it. We may want to control every detail, but there are battles that only He can win.
Do you remember what God said in 2 Chronicles 20:15? He says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” This was spoken to King Jehoshaphat when he faced a vast army coming against him. Instead of panicking, he sought the Lord, and God reassured him that the battle was His to fight. The result was a miraculous victory that left no doubt about God’s power and faithfulness.
We often find ourselves in similar situations, faced with challenges that seem insurmountable. Yet, God doesn’t expect us to figure it all out alone. He asks us to have faith, to hand over our fears, doubts, and burdens to Him. When we do, we’re not giving up on finding solutions; instead, we’re placing our trust in the One who knows the outcome better than we ever could.
Letting God fight our battles requires patience and faith. Sometimes, it feels like nothing is happening, but God’s timing is always perfect. I’ve learned that while we may want instant results, God is often working behind the scenes in ways we can’t yet see. And when the time is right, He moves in ways that remind us just how powerful and loving He is.
Life will always bring challenges, but we don’t have to face them alone. When we allow God to take control, we experience peace that comes from knowing He is in charge. And even though the path may not be easy, there’s comfort in knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord. We just have to trust Him enough to let Him fight for us.
