Dr. Myles Munroe: Make Plans, Let God Lead the Way

Dr. Myles Munroe, a celebrated evangelist and author, emphasized the importance of taking initiative in life by crafting plans while allowing God to guide the process.

“God never plans for your life; He has a plan for it,” Dr. Munroe explained, stressing that individuals must play an active role in shaping their destiny. “If you want God to guide you, you must have a plan first.”

Addressing the frustration many face when seeking direction, he said, “So many of us say, ‘Where is God? I don’t feel God guiding me.’ The answer is right there: no destination, no determination.” He reminded listeners that God works in response to clear goals.

Drawing from scripture, he cited, “In his heart, man makes his plans, but the Lord determines his steps,” to illustrate the interplay between human effort and divine guidance. “Man makes the plans; God determines the steps of it. Notice God determines the steps, not the leaps,” he remarked, emphasizing that progress often comes in gradual stages.

Dr. Munroe highlighted the significance of preparation and timing in the journey of life. “All the changes in life are really to change you for the change that’s coming up ahead. So when you come to that place of change, you’ve already been changed for the change,” he said, explaining that growth and readiness are essential for success.

Clarifying the biblical term “heart,” he noted, “The word heart here has nothing to do with your chest. It means your mind, your imagination. God says, ‘I gave you an imagination to make plans. If you don’t plan your life, I can’t direct your life.’”

In his closing remarks, Dr. Munroe urged individuals to be intentional about their lives. “Sit down and make a plan for your life. Give God something to do,” he said, encouraging listeners to adapt their plans as circumstances evolve.

Dr. Munroe’s message highlighted the partnership between human action and divine direction as the foundation for living a meaningful and purposeful life. Though he has passed on his sermons still remain.
