In a compelling sermon, Bishop David Oyedepo has reminded Christians that life is an ongoing spiritual battle, calling for heightened awareness and action. “Life is a battlefield, not a playground,” he stated, stressing the continuous struggle against dark forces.
Addressing his congregation, he said, “The fight is on. You don’t have to be interested in the fight, but it’s against you. The earlier you recognize that and wake up to the fight, the better.”
Acknowledging that he is not naturally inclined to fight, Bishop Oyedepo underscored the need for spiritual resilience. “I’m not a fighter by nature. You have to be a fighter now, because I’ve been fought,” he explained.
He emphasized that the battle is not physical but spiritual, quoting scripture: “For we wrestle, not we have wrestled, and we are now on break. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, because of the darkness of this world and wicked spirits in high places.”
Bishop Oyedepo also highlighted the intensity of the spiritual battle against sin, cautioning, “The battle against sin is the fiercest of all spiritual battles in a believer’s life,” and urging his audience to remain resolute despite the challenges many face. “Many have thrown in the towel. It is impossible, they have concluded.”
He further warned of Satan’s goal to weaken believers, saying, “Satan wants such individuals on his side at the end, and it is a whipping and gnashing of teeth, eternal damnation.” His powerful words served as a stern reminder of the need for unwavering faith in the face of spiritual warfare.
