Gospel musician Broda Sammy has called on churches to embrace individuals with tattoos, piercings, and other unconventional appearances, challenging the stigma often associated with them in religious spaces. In an interview on Onua Maakye with Captain Smart, Broda Sammy expressed concern over how people from marginalized communities, especially those with tattoos and piercings, are often viewed as “ungodly” when they attend church.
The musician emphasized the importance of welcoming everyone into the church, regardless of their outward appearance. “I intentionally visited the ghetto because many people believe those from the ghetto don’t have pure hearts. But I think it’s time we allow everyone to come to church and stand before God, whether they have tattoos, piercings, or dreadlocks,” he explained.
Broda Sammy further argued that men with piercings and tattoos should not be judged based on their looks, insisting that “it is not a sin.” He encouraged churches to stop marginalizing these individuals, allowing them to freely worship without prejudice.
His comments come amid the promotion of his latest single, “Ebebam,” which has garnered attention after the release of its gospel drill music video, featuring people from the ghetto. Broda Sammy also touched on church culture, criticizing the way some women dress modestly to the point of hiding their figures, which he believes could drive men away from the church and toward clubs.
