The seasoned head and founder of Potters City, Prophet Nanasei Opoku Sarkodie has delivered a strong sermon, on day 19 of the ongoing 70 days Fasting and Prayers, encouraging Christians to place more trust in divine healing rather than solely relying on medical interventions.
The fasting and prayers began on September 16, 2024, and is slated to end on November 24, 2024, todays sermon focused on challenging the spiritual practices of believers, particularly regarding the balance between faith and modern medicine.
Prophet Nanasei, in a post made on his YouTube channel on October 4, 2024, questioned the notion that illness is part of God’s plan, asking, “If you think sickness is the will of God, then why do you go to hospital to fight God’s will?” He acknowledged the significance of medical science but stressed it should not take the place of faith in God’s healing abilities. “The problem with medical science is that when they don’t have the solution, they pronounce a death sentence,” he said, pointing out how this often leads to despair among believers.
Drawing from scripture, Prophet Nanasei reminded attendees that Luke, a physician, was the author of both the Book of Luke and Acts. “Now God didn’t give us the wisdom of medical science to replace healing,” he affirmed, urging the congregation to embrace fasting as a means for healing and preserving health. Referencing Isaiah 58:8, Sarkodie said, “Your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear,” emphasizing the power of fasting in restoring health.
His message also critiqued the modern church’s increasing reliance on doctors over spiritual remedies. “The church is gradually shifting from divine healing to only putting our faith in doctors,” he remarked, calling on Christians to return to the biblical teachings of fasting and divine healing.
