In a candid Facebook post on October 29, Pastor Enoch Boamah addressed the growing criticisms faced by pastors, particularly those actively serving in ministry. While he expressed strong disapproval of attacks on church leaders, he acknowledged that some actions from within the pulpit have contributed to the current backlash. Boamah pointed out that an emphasis on wealth and material possessions has marked some ministries over the past 15 years, which, he suggested, may have unintentionally invited public hostility.
Pastor Enoch drew attention to the biblical message of moderation as outlined by the Apostle Paul in his letters to the Philippians, calling on pastors and Christians alike to embody humility. He highlighted that true Christian testimony should center on God’s love and transformative power, rather than showcasing material success. “Our focus should be on showcasing God’s presence, not our possessions,” he urged, stressing the need for ministry to reflect modesty.
Pastor Enoch also referenced the biblical story of King Hezekiah, who was reprimanded for displaying his treasures to the king of Babylon. In 2 Kings 20:16-17, the prophet Isaiah warned Hezekiah that his material displays would lead to everything being taken from him. Pastor Boamah used this story as a reminder of the dangers of pride, noting that God favors humility over any display of wealth.
The pastor concluded by encouraging leaders to reconsider how they present themselves, underscoring that the call to serve God is best answered with modesty and a focus on spiritual values over material accomplishments.
