Gospel musician Empress Gifty was unable to appear on Nana Ama McBrown’s “Onua Showtime” due to a sudden family emergency, her management has clarified. Contrary to circulating rumors, her absence was not due to any conflict or disagreement with the show’s host.
In an interview on Hitz FM, Empress Gifty’s publicist, Edem Tsotorme, explained that after performing at a thanksgiving event for Osei Kwame Despite’s family, Gifty received alarming news that her daughter had fallen seriously ill in Akosombo. Without hesitation, she left immediately to be by her daughter’s side.
“Empress did not miss the show out of any ill intention,” Tsotorme clarified. “She had to rush to Akosombo and later to Tema for her daughter’s treatment. She was only able to leave the hospital on Monday morning.”
The situation was further complicated when Empress Gifty lost her phone, making it difficult for anyone to reach her, including McBrown’s production team. Tsotorme mentioned that he personally reached out to McBrown’s team to explain the circumstances, but despite efforts to manage the situation, it became clear that Gifty would not be able to attend the show.
Thankfully, Gifty’s daughter is now responding to treatment, and the family is hopeful for a full recovery.
